SHORT GRAPHIC NOVEL

Nobody’s Home is a graphic novel about a woman named Olivia who attends therapy while dealing with grief, loneliness, and the feeling of becoming disconnected from someone she once loved. As the story progresses, it explores ideas around identity, consciousness, and what really makes someone feel human.

The novel looks at the difference between someone appearing normal on the outside while feeling emotionally absent underneath, questioning whether consciousness, emotion, and imperfection are essential parts of being a person. It draws from the philosophical idea of the “philosophical zombie”, exploring the unsettling idea that it’s impossible to ever truly know if another person experiences consciousness in the same way you do.

The story also works as a metaphor for AI-generated artwork and the growing fear of creativity becoming technically perfect while losing human emotion and meaning. Through both the writing and visuals, the project explores themes of authenticity, emotional detachment, memory, and isolation in an increasingly artificial world.

Visually, the graphic novel uses minimal and symbolic imagery to reflect emotional emptiness and uncertainty, with parts of the story intentionally left open to interpretation.
